Celestion super 65 speakers

Does anyone know how they sound?
Are they similar or different to the G12 in the 1960 cabs?

They have the smaller 35 ounce magnet and do not have the bottom of a G-12H. They are stronger in the mids. Some people use two of these in a cab with two more speakers that have more bass. I have a thread on speakers. I'll go look and see if I have any sound clips of this speaker and I will post it back here for you.

No, there wasn't any sound clip. There were several guys discussing speaker combo's and one guy said the 65 was the best with a V30. Of course, this is his opinion. A lot of guys seem to like the V30 mixed with say the G12T-75's.

I wish Marshall (or Celestion) would get with it and have some sound clips available for all of these speakers.

Uhm curious. So, are they a bit like the Blue alnicos (my favourite), but with greater wattage?

I wouldn't go that far. A Blue is only rated at 15 watts. It has an alnico magnet and the 65 has a ceramic magnet and is rated at 65 watts. A V30 is rated at 60 watts and the SPL is close, so this makes them a good pair to mix.

Are you looking for the alnico sound? I have an Eminence Red Fang in one of my 401's and it sounds so much better than the stock speaker. It can handle about 50 watts and is about half the price of a Blue.
