Looking for a Celestion for a 1X12" combo

I have a 60 watt tube combo that I am thinking of upgrading the speaker on if I can find the right deal on the right speaker.

Since this is a 60W amp running one 8ohm speaker, I am assuming the replacement must be rated for a minimum of 60 watts or I would risk blowing it at higher volumes (please correct me if I am mistaken). If so, that narrows the gap to the G12 Century Vintage, Vintage 30, G12T-75, Classic G12K-100, and a couple of less-popular options.

What I am looking for is a speaker that performs extremely well as a single speaker. Ideally the amp would be used as a dedicated blues amp with a secondary function as backup amp for punk/metal/rock. What I would like to see (if possible) is a different tool in the shed, though.

I have 2 4x12s: a 16 ohm 1960A with G12T-75 stockers, and an Avatar with 8 Ohm V30s. I would like something different and have NO desire to buy another G12T-75, but I also realize a V30 solo may have unique qualities compared to a quad in a 4x12. Price is also a consideration, and obvioulsly the more popular items will be more readily available in the used market. So in a way, I almost feel as if painted into a "8ohm V30" corner, but I was wondering if there was an alternative you would recommend above this given the criteria posted. TIA.

Youre not going to be using all 60 watts all the time.

Have a look at these:

Re: Looking for a Celestion for a 1X12" combo

Have you seen Martys thread?:
***Everything and Anything About Speakers***
It links to every speaker test and evaluation thread known to all of us!

I also came back to V30's for my 1x12 combo and 1x12 cab, but I dont have access to many alternatives. No complaints though. V30's are used in plenty of high-end 1x12 combos.

Why dont you just swap a V30 out of your Avatar cab into the combo? Its not a big job, and if you put the combo speaker in the cab too, then it probably wont make much audible difference to the cab since its only 1 out of 4, and the electrical specs match. It should be fine at least for a test and maybe long term.

I'm using V30s in a couple of Rocktron 112S 1x12 cabs in an FRFR rig being pushed by a rack tube stereo 50/50 power amp and I love em. I'm playing industrial-metal with that rig.
