Celestion G12M Heritage Speakers..review
A while back I posted a question about a slash cab I purchased. With the help of the good ppl on this forum I eventually figured out had Celestion G12M Heritage Speakers in it. Slash Marshall Cab, anyone got one? Question re the speakers
Well I got it wired up and have been using it and thought I would post a small review. I personally love the sound of these speakers. They are nice and fat, a bit darker than the standard GTM75s that I am used to. I have a JCM900 combo, that i plugged into it. The sound is chalk and cheese. the JCM900 sounds awesome, fatter, cleaner......just better. I think that a closed back quad makes a difference as well but I am addicted to the sound of these speakers. I also tried plugging in an old MIJ Roland Cube 40 into it. And it actually makes that little old amp sound great. Seriously. It sounds pretty grim on its own but it really lights up when plugged into the quad which amazed me for a shitty old solid state amp. I might post a Youtube review if anyone is interested. Thanks again to gtrman for his help on that quad.

Nice to hear you like your speakers but if you're running a 100w head with them, be very careful because you could blow them easily as they are rated for 20w each. Your cab can only handle 80w total. I wouldn't crank a 50watter either.
How do you like the feel and attack of the speakers at louder volumes? |

![]() Using the JCM900 as a test amp heres the conclusions I have drawn. Runiing the amp at about 3/4 volume (50 watts) Clean and semi clean (JTM45 type) and crunch sound great. Very articulate and musical and you can feel it on your chest. At high gain it tends to mush a bit... I have no idea why but its not as tight as say a regular 1960A Cab. Don't get me wrong it sounds fine but just not killer. I don't quite get this as EVH uses these speakers and he plays with more gain than you can poke two sticks at. Maybe because I am chugging away in a metal way as opposed to soloing. I suspect that the people who will be most happy with these speakers would be anyone minus metal players. So there you go!
