If they're different ohms it aint gonna work, unless the Mesa is 4 ohms, but I doubt it.

1960a should be a 16 ohm cabinet, meaning the Mesa has to be 16 ohms as well to work this way. If you had two 1960's, you'd set the amp for 8 ohms, because they're 16 ohm cabs.

However, if one cab is 16 ohms and the other is 8, it will work. You'll end up with something like 5.3 ohms...slight mismatch to the 4 ohm setting on your amp but it's not enough of a mismatch to matter or hurt anything. Now, if the Mesa cab is in fact 4 ohms and all the speakers are 16 ohm in the Mesa cab (since they're V30s I'm thinknig they are...IIRC I don't even think they ever made a 4 ohm V30), this means that the speakers in the Mesa cab are currently hooked up parallel and you can rewire the cab series-parallel and make it into a 16 ohm cab. Then it will match your 1960 cab and you can run them on the 8 ohm setting.

Assuming your cabs are 4x12 cabs, how were you able to get 8 ohms out of four 16 ohm speakers?
