Well if you are using an MG connecting it to a cab will not give you a huge tone difference. Solid state amps are what they are. You can probably do it but the work involved it will not be worth it.

The difference it will make is pushing more air. If you're having problems being heard over the drums, it'll make some difference in volume, but no change in tone. I believe they're loaded with the exact same speakers.

I think you can do this, and it will sound better. Your MG30 has a single 10" driver, open back or closed back? either way, a cab with 4 x12" drivers will sound bigger.

For fun, I put a jack socket on my little MG10 and plug it into an old valvestate 4x12 cab and it works fine as a spare practice rig. It sounds surprising big for such a small amp. But it cant touch the tone of a better amp.

However, I do think that if you are moving up from what is essentally a practice amp, towards a rig thats good for band use, then plugging it into the MG cab is just going to be a stepping stone. It will be better, but youll end up wanting a better amp with more power and a better cab.

So my advice, if you are on a budget, is spend what you have on a second hand cab. If you go for an MG cab, make sure it is very cheap so you can sell it on with no loss, or stretch out for a good secondhand cab that will work well when you change your amp.
