2203 amp with 1935B cab?
Hi everybody,
I need an advice, opinion I use Marshall jcm 800 lead 100W 2203, and jcm 800 bass cab 1935B 4x12 (celestion g12-65 1777) So, I have opened my JCM 800 bass series 1935B 4x12" cab and I saw this! ![]() I thought it was 16 Ohm cab, but it's, I think serial, so 4x16=64Ohm. Correct me if I'm wrong. I bought It 8 years ago, used ofcourse. First thing that confused me was 1777 code on cone, because I thought it was code for guitar speakers, and this is bass cab, than I saw they are serial wired, and impendance selector on my amplifier is on 16 Ohm. Questions: 1. Are these speakers suitable with my 2203? 2. Should I wire parallel/serial this speakres to get 16 Ohm total cab impendance. PS Sorry for my english, it's not the best. |

Re: 2203 amp with 1935B cab?
Right now looks like it's wired in straight parallel which if you have four 16ohm speakers it will yield a 4ohm load. These speakers are fine for your 2203 but you need to use the 4ohm load on your amplifier to match it.
You can easily rewire the cab to 16ohms if need be. Here are some easy diagrams. Wiring a 4 X 12 Speaker cabinet Jumbo Sunshade - Speaker Wiring Diagrams

Re: 2203 amp with 1935B cab?
1777 is a guitar cone, and the G12-65 is a very good Celestion speaker,
that was only produced for a few years. The Heritage series from Celestion has the RI version of this speaker together with the G12M and the G12H from the 60's. The speakers are probably not original to the cab, and it's rewired. Put it back to standard 16ohm parallell/serial, and you'll have a Lead cab with very sought after G12-65's. I can't see the date codes, but they should be from the period '79 - '83. Should be the best cab you can get for your amp. (I think it's the best speakers in the JCM800 period) |

Re: 2203 amp with 1935B cab?
Thanks people,
if not necessery i will not rewire them, i'll just put the selector on 4 ohm on amp. I have measured impendance on cab and it's 4,3 on input jack of cab. Sound is very sharp with any pedal(stompbox) or git. processor so I tought maybe it's because of speakers. When upper, hi input is in use tone is woooow (without pedals), but on low with pedals, very sharp even when the preamp is on 1, or even half of it. I suppose that that amp is not realy the best for that kind of use. I use Vox tone lab le, but I use Boss metal zone also. Thanks again, at least I know now that I have a good cab! |
