Best cab to go with 2205?

Hey everyone, new guy here. Been lurking for a while and finally signed up as I've just recently bought my first real Marshall; a JCM 800 2205 (still waiting for it though...being shipped).

Anyway, I currently have a 1x12 cab but I'm kind of thinking I want ...more. I like the look of a 4x12 but a 2x12 would be easier to haul around. Two 2x12's would be ideal I guess but a 4x12 used would be waaay cheaper and easier to find.

I play "hair metal" pretty much exclusively. Ratt, Poison, Warrant, Crue, Bon Jovi, that sort of thing, which is why I went for a JCM800 in the first place.
So now I need a cab and am looking for suggestions on something that would be ideal for that.

Re: Best cab to go with 2205?

I have a 2205 and HAD a 1936 (2x12) cab w/ G12T-75s. I play 60's / 70's rock and blues. That cab had to go... it seemed to miss with the fullness and projection. It was good, but not what I was looking for. Maybe with some different speakers???

I bought a Carvin Legacy 4x12 slant that was loaded with V30s and some EMIs. The EMIs had to go, replaced with G12T-75s. That combination works very well, and I'm impressed with the Legacy cab build and projection (all ply, like the 1960), and the tone.

However, I just picked up an empty Marsahll basketweave B cab from the early 70s that I intend to re-load with G12M greenbacks. I hear that combo will give me the warm, full, and woody tone... we'll see.

Vintage 30's are the way to go or if you're on a tighter budget you can visit this sight and check out the Veteran 30's. Warehouse Guitar Speakers

The Marshall cabs that are loaded with vintage 30's ar 1960av cabs. Brand new will run you around a grand but used you might be able to get a good deal.

Re: Best cab to go with 2205?

As far as budget is concerned, there is none.
I've decided that I won't cut corners on this one. I figure that I might as well get good gear right off the bat this time. So basically what I'm going to do is find out what kind of cab would be best and then save up for it.

That being said, I won't be spending thousands on it. I'd be happy if I could find something for 400-500€ but I'm not totally opposed to a bit more either.

Seems like Vintage 30's may be the way to go. I've gotten that recommendation before.
