Greenbacks or G12H 30's??? tough choice!!!

I have a JCM 800 2203 as my main amp... im getting rid of most of my rig to save up for a 4*12... thing is im stuck whether to get a cab with greenbacks or G12H 30's...

I play in a sex pistols tribute band... but aside from that i love that 70's / 80s classic rock sound eg... guns n roses/led zep.

I know both are great speakers.. but which ones to get???

cheers guys!!

What Hot Tubes said. I'm a big fan of mixing different speakers, there's lots of unique tone to be had this way. If I *had* to pick between the two, my personal preference would be for the Greenies.

Re: Greenbacks or G12H 30's??? tough choice!!!

I've had a 412 of H30's and now I have a 412 of Greenbacks. I prefer the GB's and they can get heavy tones too but will cover all the classics.

Guys are mixing K100's and V30's in a 412 cab in an X pattern and having great results although most of them are playing heavier modern stuff. I had a 212 mix of a K100 and V30 and it handled all kinds of genres without pigeon holing it into one. Very nice.

I have a '68 4x12" BW cab with G12M's 25w,
and a '68 4x12" BW cab with G12H's 30w.
Originally they were both Greenback speakers,
but when the RI of the G12M came, they named that model "Greenback"

These are the original speakers, and if you buy new ones,
they could be different.
But they say that the Heritage G12H is very close to the original.

The G12H cab plays 3dB louder than the G12M cab.

The G12M breaks up earlier, and has a typical high middle sound,
perfect for a vintage guitar sound.

The G12H has better bass, and a fatter sound all over.

I use the G12H cab with my 100w amps, and the G12M cab with 50w amps.

Both are great cabs, so it's a matter of taste.
