Replacement speaker opinions for weird upgrade.

Ok ill explain what im doing. Due to tight finances, ive replaced 3 of the 4 original drivers in a 4x12 mg cab, with new gt12-75's that ive aquired very cheap (unfortunately there was only 3!) Now what im going to do is fit a diff one as the fourth. Im running a vs100 head, so you can understand why im trying to upgrade the cab! You may ask why not just get a 1960s cab.. well i may in the end but im interested to see how this works out with the smaller cab.

The stuff i play ranges from heavy rock/metal, to quite clean chilled stuff.

If the fourth speaker isn't as efficient as the GT12-75's, you won't even hear it. It will however help maintain the proper impedance by being in the cab. Make sure the fourth speaker can handle the same amount of wattage, or else the weak speaker will fry and you probably won't notice it until your output transformer burns up.

Good luck, Marty

Just buy another GT12-75...they are easily acquired cheaply on ebay or local forums. If you muck around too much with mismatch, you may find that you may be worse off financially if something gives way .
Remember the old saying "the poor man pays twice".

I dont think the Valvestate models have an output tranny as they are solid state

That'll work. As long as all four speakers have the same ohm rating.

You're good to go.
