Best parallel wiring
Hi, I want to rewire my JCM800 1960 cab from 16 to 4 ohm. I know I should connect the four speakers in parallel, all + together and - together. But what's the best way of doing this?
A - Just go from speaker to speaker? B - Make a sort of star wiring (separate +/- wires from the jack to each speaker)? C - Combination of A and B, like from the jack to bottom left and right, and from there to upper left and right? Option A seems easiest to wire, so it has my preference. Does it make any difference at all? Thanks

Re: Best parallel wiring
if you have a 1960a/b or AV/bV they already come in 16/4 ohm wiring per marshall specs, so you only need to plug into the 4 ohm jack
here´s the link to the manual from the marshal site http://www.marshallamps.com/download...Cabs%20Hbk.pdf |

Re: Best parallel wiring
Ohms themselves do not. But to achieve a certain impedance you'll need to wire series, parallel or a combination. And some will say that parallel wiring results in a somewhat brighter tone. So my cabinet now in 4 ohms might sound a little bit brighter than when it was still in 16 ohms.

Re: Best parallel wiring
It's a Silverface Dual Showman Reverb from 1974. So yes, basically a Twin. I totally updated it on the inside, new PTP boards, components, sockets, tubes etc. It's a killer amp now
and as good as new.
