cab for jtm 45?

i know this is a vague question so im gonna ask for the pros and cons of the cabs i was lookin at for a jtm45. any input is greatly appreciated.
1960ax?
2061cx (the rare lookin 2x12 one)?
the 2061 is only 60 watts and i think that would almost be perfect to push with a jtm 45 or even the 50 watt dsl i have. thanks
btw im lookin for that classic marshall crunch we all know of. acdc etc.

Re: cab for jtm 45?

Wait, do you want to distort the speaker? Because a 50watt RMS amp will put out at least 100watts true when cranked.

Edit: For example, I'm currently using a 4x10 140watt cab with my 100watt JCM900 head, which can be switched down to 50watts, and even then, at about 6 or 7, the speakers give a really bad distortion kinda sound.

Re: cab for jtm 45?

im looking for good sounding speaker break up i dont wanna blow speakers
since the jtm 45 is only 30 watts i didnt think it would be enough to push a 100 watt cab. maybe im wrong. i was mainly lookin for a cab for the jtm45. i already have the 1960a for my dsl

Well if you're gonna be turning it up, you'll want something more than 50watts, maybe 70 or 75 will be about right.

Re: cab for jtm 45?

I've been told Avatar cabs are quite nice sounding, and cheap. So if you don't mind not having a Marshall, go for it.

Although a 2x12 cab will give you a lot of low end without much highs, and it wont exactly be all that much quieter than a 4x12.

Re: cab for jtm 45?

JJs are pretty good tubes, but they're dark.

Some good N.O.S tubes would pair up real well with that amp.
