Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

Thanks for your replies.
I hope that nobody ever has to experience this kind of crap.
It is a huge disappointment to say the least. Now i am going to have to go through this whole shipping insurance claim crap. The only thing that worries me is that when it finally comes down the pike for me to get the other cabinet am i going to have to go through this all over again. As you guys can see my trust in these shipping services has been shattered.

Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

My buddy got a brand new RR1 delivered to his house once, it had a ding on one of the V "wings" and had some wood showing, he was actually excited about it because he knew he was going to get some money back.
He ended up calling up and complaining about it a bunch 'til they came off a couple hundred dollars. Score!
I do understand how you feel though. You like to receive things pristine when they're supposed to be new. Us on the other hand, we're traveling all the time so all of our gear is or will be cosmetically damaged so to us we're not that worried about looks as long as it plays and performs perfectly.
Stick it to them though, those bums should be more careful with your stuff.

Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

Hey Viking, Dude that sucks!. I play mainly pointy guitars, Aria Pro II Urchins from the 80's so i can totally relate to being bummed about that. But since they gave him a discount, that means- hey, hey, more gear to buy.
Yeah i was wishing it was pristine but what is really crazy is that i had a dream the nght before it came that it was going to be f***ed up and long behold it was.
It'll all come out in the wash. They'll realize they (fed ex) are at fault and i'll get a new one.
Gear gets abused on the road/gigging and that's to be expected but i'm not even sure how much i'll want to use this cab live. Maybe a once in a while kinda thing for special gigs.
I'm actually looking at getting a peavey windsor to use with the cab, when i get the cab. I would love to buy a marshall but for my wallet right now a windsor will do just fine and it kinda matches the cab.
Now i would love to have a 1959RR but i'll buy a car for 3k before i buy a head for that. Now after i buy the car ha ha game on.
How much have you spent on your 2203 and 2204 heads? seperatley.

Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

I got a pretty good deal on my '87 2204, I think I paid around $800. It was a little beat up but sounds like it should. I paid a hell of a lot for my '83 2203, it was in pristine condition, no mods, knicks or scratches anywhere, still had the original cover with it. I paid about $1500 for that one. I was tired of missing them for a year so when I finally saw the exact model and year that I wanted in perfect condition I just went ahead and jumped on it. It was worth it, I love both of those amps.

Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

I once got a cab with basically all the speakers broken and the wood was all scratched... that was bad. Makes this seem like nothing. Hope it works out for you though, I would feel the same!

Re: 1960 AWEG Arrived Damaged

I've had about 3 amps arrive that weren't in working order and had them sent back. Quite a few other things too. My neighbor use to laugh at my luck for having to send stuff back. He would get something and it would work fine. Me I was always having to go the extra mile to get something in working order.

After awhile I just considered it part of the process and no biggie other than taking me more time to get what I wanted. I would just shake my head, grin and bare it.

One thing I learned with these mail order stores is to let them know I expected the product to be working and new. I settled for no BS. I never had any problems getting helped.
