Re: MC212 - any opinion?

I got a MC212 along with a 50 watt DSL head on a trade for my Mesa F-50 1 x 12 combo. The build quality is ok, it's all pressboard. If yu don't toss the thing around it sound hold together alright. I bought some white pipping off ebay and put it on around the front, now it looks pretty good. The speakers aren't the best but it depends on what your needs are. I recently swapped them out with a pair of Vintage 30's and it sounds very good now. I checked the specs on the much higher priced 1936 (?) 2 x 12 bottom and it's pretty much the same size and weight, just half the price. You can find good deals on speakers and have close to the same bottoms for a good savings. I have noticed on some gigs I have a little trouble hearing myself and have elevated the cab up about a foot, it works much better. As I said I'm using a 50 watt DSL with it. I also own a Carvin 4 x 12 with GT12-75's. I like the 2 x 12 in smaller clubs, it's light and sounds very good especially with the Vintage 30's. For me it's a keeper!
