hey say that GB's are really 'vintage' sounding speakers and they 'flab' out but I find them to be excellent all round speakers. Clean? HELL Yea! Dirty? Faark yea!

Re: Greenbacks for metal? **** Yeah

I been curious over that pattern for awhile. I loved my old cab with 75s but found it too dark. I guess the gbs add the brilliance to the scooped sounding 75s. I gotta try that combination!

Re: Greenbacks for metal? **** Yeah

the greenbacks are sweet I just swapped out my g12k-85s from my JCM 800 1936 cab for some greenbacks from an old vox. amp with the 6402 cones. great for punk/metal imho.

Re: Greenbacks for metal? **** Yeah

Greenbacks sound good for metal. I swapped out the stock speakers in my Peavey JSX combo a few years ago and love'em. I also have a Marshal 4x12 1982BJH cabinet with MIE greenbacks. I haven't tried it yet but, I should see how that cabinet sounds with the Dual-Rectifier I just picked up?

I have a greenback sitting right here, don't know what I'm gonna do with it. I'm looking for an empty cab and head to go with it, LOL!

I guess greenbacks can make even a Line 6 sound good. Amazing speaker indeed.

Re: Greenbacks for metal? **** Yeah

Just scored an empty 1933 cab. Gonna put my greenback in it and use it for my Class 5 I was using my Haze 40 combo as a speaker cab for it. (I put a 50w Eminence greenback clone in it)

Re: Greenbacks for metal? **** Yeah

I run a JCM 900 1960B cab with 1990's 75's in parallel with a early 2000's 1960BX with Greenbacks. The combination to me is perfect!

I have a 1936 cab and a good worn in 75 waiting to go in once the new Creamback 65 Watt is available. Then I'll have my tone in a portable 2 x 12 when needed!!

I have a 1933 cab with the stock speaker in it. I think it's a great sounding cab. Bet it will sound killer with a greenie in it with the C5 driving it.

Enjoy!

What is the stock speaker in those? I'm guessing a G12t75 right? Mine was empty when I bought it.

G12M-70... a picture being worth a thousand words:

Which brings me to ask you... does your cab have a plastic thinger attached to where the port hole is? Looks like something was installed over the port hole in the above shot, but I've not found any other gut shots of the 1933 cab yet.

WGS Green Beret's (12M clone). Stupid good for all forms of metal, even 'djent'. They handle my 7-string just fine.
