Re: G12H 30 vs V30
get them both and combine them in one cab
G12H30 > low mids + V30 > high mids = pure sonic bliss

For me it's a good speaker to combine with another speaker. I heard the V30 combined with G12T75's; which sounded good imo, but I don't like V30's on their own. If you have to pick one of the two, I'd personally go for the G12H30.

Re: G12H 30 vs V30
Just a reminder...there are two flavors of G12H, the Anniversary, and the Heritage. The Heritage has the bass cone, and is alot more expensive. I bought one new for $225.

Re: G12H 30 vs V30
I have the G12H30's in both my ahw/bhw cabs ... I absolutely love them. In comparison to the V30's, they have a bit stronger/tighter bass, the treble is much more rounded off and pleasing (though, some of that could have to do w/my grill cloth softening the treble a bit), and the mids are more balanced (I'm not sure how the frequencies technically work, and the guys are probably right regarding it being stronger in the lower mids on a frequency scale, but it doesn't stand out as much as the high mids of the V30 ... not as pronounced ... just more balanced, I guess). What I particularly like about them is that they work for everything ... it's definitely the most versatile speaker I've ever owned/used.

Re: G12H 30 vs V30
I also run the ahw and bhw....and I absolutely love them! I did not like the V30's....and I heard them through a couple different cabs (Marshall, Mesa,...)
I found great deals on mine...I got stupid lucky and picked up the bhw for less than half price...practically brand new! I know that will never happen again in my lifetime, ha ha! |

Re: G12H 30 vs V30
+ 1 on pairing them but watch out the cab power would be ratd by the number ogf g12h speakers you have 30* the number of speakers and a 100 w amp will fry the g12h if dimed, i know cause i fried one, i just got another one cause i like the way the pairing sounds but untill i install the new one i´m using an eminence GB green back clone, the mids of the GB are more pronounced (in a good way) than the V30 and the g12h so now i´m wondering if what i really want is a cuad of GB

Re: G12H 30 vs V30
The G12H30 could be a transitional speaker in between G12M and G12-65.
After all, the G12-65 too was an evolution of a G12M. While I like all of the above, I could never bring myself to like the V30s. Rather different type of speaker than all of the mentioned ones. Should I go for a higher rating speaker - around 60 watts in fact - I would go (and I have) immediately for G12-65s, which are superb under all aspects and for all intents and purposes. |
