Newbie question about upgrading 1936 cab speakers

I've recently bought my first big boys amp Marshall JCM 800, 2205 (50 watt, 1988) head and 1936 cabinet (2x12 G12T-75's) and love it but pretty sure it can be improved. I'm looking to change out the G12T-75's.
I've lost count how many threads I've read to help me make my choice and I can't say I'm much closer to a decision other than knowing that I definately want to change the G12T-75's.
Considering replacing them with heritage G12M's or heritage G12H's.
Can anyone please tell what changes in tone I can expect? I'm not into metal type stuff. I want the speakers to break up sweetly and crunch without needing to crank everything up to 11! I don't want to lose definition or start getting muddy....maybe the lower rated G12M's (20watt) will break up too soon and muddy? Any thoughts?
I know a lot of guys here swear by the V30's but I've read that they can sound too bright in some applications...is this true? And during my reading I've found myself swayed more towards the Greenbacks rather than the V30's although I am still undecided.
Thanks and wish you all a healthy and toneful 2009!

2 20watt speakers won't be enough for a 50watt head!

How about 2 x 30's?

Re: Newbie question about upgrading 1936 cab speakers

How about pairing an Alnico Blue with a G12H in the closed back 1936 cab?
any ideas anyone who has tried this or heard it?

the alnico blue is rated 15watts.

you'd have a 30watts cab (always twice the "weakest" speaker!)

I'd probably go for G12M (not heritage) greenbacks or G12H's.
they are supposed to break up pretty early.

Re: Newbie question about upgrading 1936 cab speakers

thanks guys.
I didn't mean the Alnico Blue I meant the Gold.
I got a reply back from one of the celestion dealers about this and they say that pairing an Alnico Gold and Heritage G12M would be a good choice.
I guess my real question now is how different would this sound to the 2 x G12T-75's that I'm currently using?

Jtm-series,
Do you mean the non-heritage series break up earlier than the others?
