8 or 4 ohm into a 4 ohm bass cab?
Hi,
Got an MB4210 and an MBC115 bass cab (4 ohm) which sound GREAT, but question is if I can safely use the MBC115 with my old bass tops, one tube and one solid state, both with 8 ohm speaker jacks? When will one learn the impedance basics...? |

Re: 8 or 4 ohm into a 4 ohm bass cab?
Doesn't sound like a good idea! 4 Ohm cab into 8 Ohm amp outputs will very likely blow the solid state amp and also overstress the tube amps output transformer.
Tube amps need to have a match of output Ohms setting and cab. Solid state amps are happy with a cab of the minimum rated Ohms, or higher ohms, but give less output with a higher ohms cab. John
