Celestion Blueback speakers

I had a crazy thought - what would a Marshall sound like if you used Celestion Blueback speakers?

Bluebacks, of course, are the speakers typically used in Vox amplifiers. Marshalls usually use Greenbacks. What if one used Bluebacks for a different tone?

First chance I get, I shall try a Marshall amp through a Vox extension cab. They'll usually have Bluebacks.

Re: Celestion Blueback speakers

Joe Perry uses them in Vox Cabs with Marshall heads,
although i know they are only 15watt speakers so its kind of pushing
it unless you have a 50watt or less head

I know that Goldbacks are real close to Vintage 30s in sound

Re: Celestion Blueback speakers

Actually between when I posted, and now, I found out that Vintage 30's have a similar tone to Bluebacks, but at higher power.

So, first chance I get, I'll A/B between a cab with Vintage 30's, and another with Greenbacks. Perhaps another good idea would be to use a full stack, with V30's in one cab, and Greenbacks in the other.

Re: Celestion Blueback speakers

frequency response on the v-30 is very very similar to the blue and gold (at least on graphs) and celestion says is the modern (v30) version of a blue with more power handling, they even got to laser interferometers and stuff like that to emulate the response of the blue
