1936 Cab to DSL 50 - Confused

Hi Guys,

Just bought a JCM2000 DSL 50 and 1936 Lead cab. Does anyone have any idea what connections I should be using. Ie, there are 3 ohm jack inputs. One say 16ohms, the other 2 say 4 or 8 ohms whcih is on the back of the dsl50 and there is alos a switch for 4 or 8 ohms. On the 1936 cab there are 2 jacks one with 8ohms mono (left output) and the other with 16ohms (right output).

Hope this makes sense

Many thanks

use the output on the far left and make sure the head is on 16 ohms and the cab any input as long as the switch is on mono 16ohms
now if your going stereo you have to use the output jack on the middle or far right and switch the head to 8 ohms and the cabinet - does it make sense?

This is NOT correct.

I have a 1936 2x12, there's no switch. It is capable of stereo or mono, but it depends on what jacks are used (the switching occurs when a plug is inserted into one of the jacks).

The 1936 cab, using both speakers in mono, is 8 ohms. You will take 1 speaker cable (not a guitar cable, there's a difference) and plug one end into the cab input jack labelled MONO 8 ohms. The other end of the speaker cable goes into one of the DSL's speaker outputs labelled 4 or 8 ohms, and you will set the switch for 8 ohms.

The way the cab works is that if you plug a cable into the other input jack, inside the jack, the plug engages a switch that separates the 2 speakers, allowing stereo operation. But since each speaker is 16 ohm by themselves, now each side of the cab is 16 ohms. But don't worry about it, your amp is not stereo. Just make sure you always plug into the input labelled MONO. If you don't, you will only be using one speaker, at 16 ohms, and you can damage your amp if you don't use the 16 ohm output.

as awex says plug into the mono socket at the rear of you cab at 8 ohms, i have a 1936 cab and a tsl amp and thats wot i do, as said earlier if you plug into the stereo at 16 ohms you only use one speaker. so mono at 8 ohms = 2 speakers.
