Need help finding the right speaker...
Hi,
Im new here..but have been playing for 25 years. Lots of them on Marshalls.. I need to buy some speakers and I cant get to aplace that has lots to try, so Can anybody tell me what speakers sound good with a high Gain Marshall amp....I found the G12-75 way to bright for my ears and tru for the G12-50 as well. They were in these ada "splt stack" cabinets..and I did not like them. So what kinda similar but with much less ice-pick treble? PS: I need the speakers to handle 50 watts or higher, 8 ohms. thank you, GtrGeorge! |

welcome to the forum! i like the vintage 30's myself but they still may be to bright for you.....maybe the greenbacks would work better...except they are 25 watters.

Re: Need help finding the right speaker...
50 Watts total? 212 cab? Or 50 Watts each in a 412?
If it's 50W total I'd think about Greenbacks or G12H30s/Vintage-30s. Seems to be a nice combination. If you need 50 watts each Vintage-30s all the way. Or take a look at some of the Eminence speakers. |

Re: Need help finding the right speaker...
I listened to some various Celestion clips one time and the Celestion Lead 80 had the warmest tone out of 'em.
Also...... look into Warehouse Guitar Speakers They have some Celestion clones that are half the price and sound as good if not better. I have a 4x12 loaded with their Veteran 30s (Vintage 30 clones) and they sound just as good as my Vintage 30 loaded cabs ..... but even warmer.
