speakers for a 1979 marshall cab and jmp head

Hi i just bought a jmp 100watts head moddified by jim caswell it has the #39 mod wich is the sound that slash used durin the appetite for destruction sessions. im looking for a vintage cab to match and i just love the looks of the 1960ax gray cloth cab and i found one without speakers and i was looking wich speakers would be a good match for them they usally come stock with g12-65, but i was thinkin more of a lower wattage greenbacks. Greenbacks, you can get the 25watts, or the
Heritiage G12H's would also sound great.

Re: speakers for a 1979 marshall cab and jmp head

Thanks for the reply, how about one 1960A cab, somebody is selling me one at $350 and to tell you the truth im a little short of money, or maybe should i wait to buy the a real vintaje one. i also have a marshall 4x10 with celestions that i use with a marshall jtm60 head wich i love as for the size power and sound. i tried my jmp head with this at bedroom level and sounds good, i tried it with the 1960a and sounds great, but maybe it will sound better with a vintage one with greenbacks. SO MANY OPTIONS SO LITTLE MONEY!!!

a vintage cab will cost you for sure,
what i did was went for the 1960A then
put new speakers in when i could afford them.
You can always later change the grill cloth

The new AX comes with G12M greenbacks. I have a 1960 BX, and it has the Greenies in it. I will tell you, this cab is killer. I have never heard a better cabinet.
