Shopping for 10" speakers, any suggestions?
Im looking to replace 2 of the 4 speakers in my Hot Rod Deville. the other 2 are Eminence Legend 1028Ks (all 4 stock speakers are now trashed
) Im curious what other people have used, liked/disliked. I thought it might be a good idea to go with some more Eminence speakers, but I also like to experiment (and I dont know much about speakers so it would be good to learn) I really like Celestions, but my experience with them has always been 12" speakers (and with Marshalls). Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

If all four speakers are thrashed, why are you only looking for two? Anyway, Eminence has a wide selection of 10-inch speakers. You could even pair some up. Anyway, if you have the bucks, I'd get four alnico 10-inch Red Fangs. Another favorite is the Copperhead. For a 10, it is pretty fat sounding.

I have the Red Fang 12 in one of my DSL401's. A lot nicer than the gold. I've also have used the Copperhead, Rajin Cajun, Delta Demon and the Lil Buddy. The Copperhead and the Rajin Cajun pair up nice.

Re: Shopping for 10" speakers, any suggestions?
I have a Peavey Classic 50 4x10 and I'm about to replace the stock Blue Marvels with Celestion G10 Vintage speakers.
I think they're supposed to be the 10 inch version of Vintage 30s. I ordered the speakers and they just arrived today.... but i won't have time to install them until this weekend. I may try to do a before and after clip. Personally, I like Celestions better than Eminence. They seem to have better non-harsh high end crispness and clarity... plus all the growling mids and thumping bass. I had great results intalling Vintage 30s in my 2 Peavey Classic 30s. It will be interesting to see how the G10 Vintages sound in my Peavey Classic 50 4x10.

Celestion makes a 10 inch Alnico Gold now. They'd probably sound nice in your Fender.

Re: Shopping for 10" speakers, any suggestions?
Thanks guys, Im leaning towards the Celestions myself. I was thinking maybe 1 greenback and 1 G10. The Alnico Golds sound great, they are more than I was hoping to spend on new speakers though. I watched a demo recently that compared 15 different speakers with the same amp/guitar, and the 12" versions of the Greenback, V30 and Alnico Gold were my favorite of all of them.
