Cabinet Identification

Last weekend I was over a one of my dad's friends house buying a truck, and during the transaction i noticed some old speaker cabinets sitting in the yard going to waste, i asked him if i could take em off of his hands and now theyre mine. They are 2, 4x12 cabs, i dont know what kind they are, but they work, here are plenty of pictures, maybe someone can help, thanks.

Here is the two stacked

Top stack input

Top craftmanship

Top Stack side handle(both sides same)

Speaker (all the same in both boxes, exept 2 in the bottom have greenbacks but are 25Watts)

Inside the top cab

Input jack on top cab, Says "MADE IN ENGLAND" Serial # "2041"

Back of top stack

And i have peeled the tolex of vinyl off of the top cab, it was terrible looking, i plan on applying a finish tommorow.

Like i said before, the speakers are all the same, except for two, which have the same model #'s but greenbacks in the bottom cab. Any info needed just ask. All info is appreciated.

The top cab looks like it could be an old Hiwatt
cab, the bottom one an old Marshall, but have been
alterd so much its hard to be sure.

The 25w G12M speakers are post 1962 when the changed from 20w to 25w. the handles on the bottom cab if they are metal are pre 1971 if they are plastic they are more recent. It also seems the back of the bottom cab is not original maybe someone replaced it as for the top one it doesnt seem like a Marshall but the bottom one definetly is because of the finger locking joints. in addition for something extra, if you look in the back of the bottom cab it should have the signiture of the guy who made it this was done since Jim made them and continues today for recignition.

the top looks like a realy old Hiwatt, or realy old Sound City, they have small handle holes and
the strange striping, Marshall never had that

either way they are both vintage and pretty cool to have

sorry it was 72 when the power rating went to 25w

The bottom one has the metal handles, so it pre 71, any i dea how much these are worth, not that i would ever sell em.

hard to say since they are all striped down like that.
if they were professionaly recoverd probably alot

I have decided to open the alleged marshall for those who are curious. Any comments about these on the history, quality and value are appreciated.

And does it look like the backs to each of the peviously mentioned cabs were switched?

The speakers are great, especialy the old
G12H's! Never seen a gray back before, but
i heard there was a while where they had different
colored backs, for a while they were black to.

the only thing i can confirm is they probably sound great
there is somethng missing from the Marshall cab though
thats the wooden post in the middle

Hey man see if this helps looks like the cab is of all different dates or at least the speakers are. there still pretty old though.

Since 1956, all Celestion chassis drivers have been stamped with a date code (2 numbers and 2 letters), denoting the exact date of manufacture. The codes are added on the production line and are placed on the speaker's housing leg or the magnet edge. The following lists provide an accurate record of the date codes used.

what i cant tell from the G12Hs there 25 watts so use the date between 1972 till earlier, and if you cant find the date code on the chassis its on the gaskets meaning you will have to take out the speaker.... be very careful.

as for the G12Ms they are 25w too so there post 1972 so use between 1968 and 1991

I actually was going to throw everyone off and say that they look like old Legend cabinets. Anybody remember those?
