Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
Graphic/web designer for about 15 years.
Before that was odds and sods though I had a pretty good job in the British film industry as an effects technician blowing shit up (before CGI came along) e.g. Full Metal Jacket, Superman 4, tv etc etc Great thread.

Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
I've done many, many different things. Currently I have been making custom guitar and bass cabinets and selling tubes. I also buy, sell and trade amps and other gear. I call my own shots and keep my own hours.
I've had a couple of projects collapse because of the economy. That was sort of an owie, but you got to just keep on going.

No kids or wife. Not now, not ever.
Just a girlfriend (and a cat and a parrot).

Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
My classification is "Systems Officer". I basically take calls and emails to assist with applications internal to where I work...so more or less it's technical support.

14 yr old son,an up and coming metal guitarist himself;16 yr old daughter into the Goth thing still;19 yr old daughter out on her own modeling and going to design school-all different mommas. I'm also helping to raise a 13yd old stepson and 17yr old stepdaughter with my 4th wife that I adopted. Its a zoo at my house with all of the kids and their friends;3 dogs-mine is a Boston terror;and then my snakes, lizards, and tarantulas.

Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
I was a systems analyst for a large insurance company till the economy took a dump and I lost my job to a "corporate downsizing". I was out of work for a year and 3 months. Now I am a technical suppport specialist for a internet company. Basicially when some ones DSL pukes out they call me. It sucks ass and I hate it but it is the only gig I have been able to find and I have a wife and kids so I do what I have to do.
My girls are 6 and 3.

You have to really want to be an engineer, it's not easy. Trust me.

Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
I'm totally going to win on the children thing.
I have 10 childs. My job is a new modern computer-age job: that's 'Virtual Assistant". Here's how it works: I can do some stuff on the puter, some people need some stuff done... Profit! Well, it's not really as simple as that - but I do get to work at home, so I shouldn't complain. I have never been rich enough to collect a quantity of nice gear such as I see in some of your sigs. |

Re: The "Whats your Job" Thread?
I was a RN (Reg. Nurse) in ITU, for 10yrs
I was a Business Student @ university for 3yrs I was an International Business Manager for US Medical Companies for 5yrs I lost my wife to cancer last year... and I have given up my job and retired @ 39yrs old. Life can be too short, do what you always wanted to do right now! Whatever you promised yourself, kids, wife (or other partner) do it today. Jobs are a means to an end not an end in themselves. I will start a business charity in Summer 2010 and I will post on the forum to spread the word with 'my friends' for support, not in money, but in ideas and skills. All the best to my favourite forum on the web. http://www.marshallforum.com/images/...s/highfive.gif |
