Do you spend more time playing or talking about playing?

The sad truth is for the last few weeks it's been talking about playing for me. It's the job. If I had my guitar next to my desk instead of a PC it would be different. The 4 hours of commuting a day doesn't help. It's gotta change soon or I'm going to go postal.

Play a lot first and then talk about how well it went

Unfortunately, life is what it is. When you grow up (sort of), have to work (when you have some), take care of kids, etc...the time to play gets reduced. Don't go postal Riff......unless UPS is too pricey.

Re: Do you spend more time playing or talking about playing?

I have been lucky to be able to start playing a lot more than I use to.. When I started around 10 years ago I only played and never messed around with my gear. Around 5 years ago I really started chasing tone and that was around the same time my playing started to get better. Raw talent can really sound amazing on any amplifier but I think that trying to be educated about sound can really boost your confidence. Most bands I listen to have amazing production, even the diy, so there is a lot of pressure to try to stay at the top of your game with the equipment.

If they would let me plug in my Marshall at work during lunch and breaks, I would probably play alot more. It might be a little disruptive to those people around me though...And I don't think the boss would like a reply like "I'll get that call later...I'm working on a difficult riff..."

That's another problem, plugging in is very loud! When I do practice I usually don't plug in. I only play my rig once a week or for band rehearsals/gigs.
