Yeah, when I was 16 I had a 1956 Bel Air with a 9,000 RPM small block Chevy motor in it and a Muncie Rock Crusher 4-Speed. In the rear I usually ran 4.56 gears. With that kind of rpm it would still top out at about 125, but I had it set up for street racing and I made a lot of money racing illegally.

One night I had this little hottie with me and some older dude tried to egg me into racing him. We got to the outskirts of town and I floored it. I smoked his ass. He never saw it coming. As I was slowing down at the mile intersection, a set of cop lights came on. It was the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. I pulled over and he came up to the window. He saw the little honey in the car. He got real upset and told me that he didn't give a damn if I was to roll my car at a high rate of speed and it burst into flames. No, I'm concerned about this innocent passenger. You're at the wheel of a 5500 pound automobile and you don't give a damn about her. Good lord, he went on and on about it. He even asked my date if she needed a ride home? (She later told me that when he said that it made her feel creepy.) He spewed for about 25 minutes and then he just turned and walked away.

I have no idea of why as a long hair with a long history of street racing, that I got off. He could have easily pulled my license and took me to jail.

There are many more high speed chases I was involved in, both cars and big Jap bikes. I was considered a hero by some and a no good son of a bitch by others. I street raced from 1971 until 1986. Most of the time on Douglas BLVD in Wichita, Kansas. I had the big block Buick GS bored and stroked out to a 472 and it had nitrous. It had a tricked out Turbo 400 automatic. (Good thing too, as I would have been breaking gears with a 4-Speed.) I had a 68 Chevelle with a bored out 454 and twin Holley carbs on a Tunnel Ram. That car was tubbed with slicks and I took it to Wichita on a flat bed trailer. I had a 69 GTO, but I pulled the Pontiac motor and put a Chevy 502 big block in it. I ran a Holley Dominator carb with a special Tunnel Ram and 2 and a 1/2 in diameter racing headers. It ran around a 9.88. I made a lot of money with it. Then of course I had the 69 Vette Stingray. It had a 427 L88 engine bored to a 440. It had a special Holley 1050CFM carb. I ran a one bottle nitrous system with the nitrous dispenser built inside of the carb so the real gas came down on the bottled gas. The only reason the Muncie 4-Speed didn't break was because the Vette only weighed about 2800 pounds. I ran 12-inch wide Goodrich TA's and I had to buy a pair about every three weeks.

All of these cars were tubbed, including the Vette. Narrowed rear axles, the whole nine yards.

With cars like that (and bikes) I had a lot of run in's with the MAN.

I wanted add another point. I had all sorts of girls wanting to be with me on Friday and Saturday nights. That's when I raced and they wanted to be with a winner. Oh, I did loose every once in a while to pilot error or a part busting, but I say I had an 85 % win ratio. That's why on a good weekend, I could make over 2G's.

That's how you get the girls. Bad boy with a hot car.

Tasty! I have a '67 Camaro in my garage right now. Used to run a high RPM 400+ HP 327, but you know what happens to those motors after a bunch of romps.

The bottom end was fine, but my 2.02 heads were DONE! I might rebuild it one day. Right now I've got a '72 350 in there, just so it goes, but it's not the strongest; probably only 300hp. I had a half built 383 stroker for it, but I just found out I can get a crate 396 for the thing, so I might sell the stroker short block and put it towards a 396. That car has an M20 tranny and a '69 10-bolt.

I also ride me a '97 Harley Springer Softail. Nothing too fancy, just cammed up, exhaust, intake, ignition module, and all that standard fare. It won't run big dogs, but it gets up and goes.

Used to have me some cool cars too. The '71 Torino with a 351 Cleveland, '87 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham were my favorites:

Love the Camaro. You have the ole "double hump 2.02 heads? Nice. Not to hip on the Cleveland Torino. You know the rules about building cars. You can get "X" amount of HP out of the engine and not worry about anything. Go to real high HP and you need to trash that 10 bolt rearend. (Even 12 bolts are not that durable.) Camaro's with a lot of HP and a stock rear suspension are trouble. If you go with a big block, you will have to change over to ladder bars. GM is still offering a lot of big block crate motors. Big blocks are also brutal on stock transmissions. That's a real pretty 67. I like the silver. How's the interior?

I got the Torino for free believe it or not because it, "Didn't run." Dude knew jack about Fords, especially not about how temperamental the starter relay is. 40kohm of resistance on the wire from the battery to the relay will do that, so $4 later it started. Ended up putting $250 into that car, sold it for $5500! Bought me a Les Paul

The 2.02's cracked, so I sold 'em to some guy who wanted to fix 'em. That stock tranny and rear end might hold a mild 396, but probably not. It's just an excuse to fit a Ford 9" and an M22 into the car I guess. The car has Comp Engineering traction bars and subframe connectors already. Interior is probably an 7/10. Black vinyl, silver metal inside. Couple of small rips in the seats, but the headliner is all new. The pillars are a little shabby, but nothing to cry about. Just had my buddy redo my front suspension, it was finished, but now it's all jacked up looking in the front, so I gotta do the rear next. Probably just need shocks in the back, not a whole rebuild though.

For the OP... talking cars will NOT get you girls. Reserve car chat for your buddies and other enthusiasts. Chicks do not care about muscle cars 9/10 times. Gold diggers will car about a BMW or Mercedes though.

I used to have a '79 Sedan DeVille too, with the 425 under the hood. It could light 'em while rolling 20mph, but man was it ugly!

Right now my daily driver is an '06 Chrysler 300 Touring. Nice for my 90-120 minute commute every day.

MAN does that thing put a smile on my face. Not my first quad but the first sport/utility quad I've ever owned. It will climp over anything, wheelie AND rip through a field at 65+ mph. That's some fun shit for sure.

And to get back on the OP's topic......getting them has never been a problem, it's getting rid of them thats the tricky part.

omg you all got awesome stories about your cars and shit, now let me tell you my bad story from today...

I WENT to the music store to buy all the stuff I have been saving for since the summer....and my debit card was DENIED...why? because I have a child's account and I cant spend more than $100.........

I talked with the store guy for like an hour moving boxes and trying out midi pedals and rack tuners and all this expensive shit, and calling on the phone and like 20 guys around me checking the bar codes and shit. AND when I paid, I was deniiiieeed!!!! SOOOO FUCKING EMBARRASSSIINNGGG! the guys at the store were soo fucking pissed off you dont even know, and when I walked away with nothing on my hands felt even worse....fuck.

Anyways, the good thing, they kept all the stuff for me so I can come tomorrow and pick it up. I just talked with the bank and they said that now I can spend up to a thousand at stores, and withdraw from the TD machine up to 500. So I guess I will come back tomorrow and not look stupid

What casting do you remember the Fuelie heads?? 461, 461X or 462?? I have a set of 462s, if you want to go back to the old school style heads.. I am looking at getting a set of Edelbrock Etec 200 heads or a set of Fastburn Vortec heads!

Most of my car pictures got "lost" between divorces. Wife #1 kept a whole bunch of my pictures and they eventually ended up in the trash.

Here is my 1969 427 L-88 Vette. I hadn't shoed it with the Goodrich TA's. Those got put on about a month after this shot. I'm still in the Air Force (and smoking at the time) and that's my dad and one of my younger brothers, Carl.

I ended up redoing the whole interior with exact replacement leather. Medium saddle tan. It had a massive sound system that I custom installed, including external jacks mounted in the fiberglass near the rear bumpers. This supplied 200 watts per channel and was used to plug in big PA speakers for the wild river parties. I had this ride from late 1977 until 1985. (Sold it, because I was getting married to wife #1.) What was rad was I had a 1969 Gold Top Les Paul and a 1969 Yellow Imron Corvette.

Found a couple of pic's of my old Buick. For all you younger guys, all of GM's muscle cars were on the same frame. They shared the same glass as well...doors, windshield and backglass. What a lot of people didn't know, was you could put a Corvette 427 right into a GTO or 442. The Chevelle, GTO, Cutlass 442 and Buick GS and GSX all had the same frame and the sheet metal was pretty close to. It was easy as pie putting different motors into these GM beauties.

These pic's were taken by my old bass player's girlfriend who also did some promo shots for us. Good thing I have a high dollar scanner. I had to take these in photo form and convert to digital.

Yeah, some of them Buick's were real butt kickers. Oh the toys of my past...where are they now?

That car has an M20 tranny and a '69 10-bolt. I also ride me a '97 Harley Springer Softail. Nothing too fancy, just cammed up, exhaust, intake, ignition module, and all that standard fare. It won't run big dogs, but it gets up and goes. Used to have me some cool cars too. Not to hip on the Cleveland Torino. You know the rules about building cars. You can get "X" amount of HP out of the engine and not worry about anything. Go to real high HP and you need to trash that 10 bolt rearend. (Even 12 bolts are not that durable.) Camaro's with a lot of HP and a stock rear suspension are trouble. If you go with a big block, you will have to change over to ladder bars. GM is still offering a lot of big block crate motors. Big blocks are also brutal on stock transmissions. That's a real pretty 67. I like the silver. Dude knew jack about Fords, especially not about how temperamental the starter relay is. 40kohm of resistance on the wire from the battery to the relay will do that, so $4 later it started. Ended up putting $250 into that car, sold it for $5500! Bought me a Les Paul The 2.02's cracked, so I sold 'em to some guy who wanted to fix 'em. That stock tranny and rear end might hold a mild 396, but probably not. It's just an excuse to fit a Ford 9" and an M22 into the car I guess. The car has Comp Engineering traction bars and subframe connectors already. Interior is probably an 7/10. Black vinyl, silver metal inside. Couple of small rips in the seats, but the headliner is all new. The pillars are a little shabby, but nothing to cry about. Just had my buddy redo my front suspension, it was finished, but now it's all jacked up looking in the front, so I gotta do the rear next. Reserve car chat for your buddies and other enthusiasts. Chicks do not care about muscle cars 9/10 times. Gold diggers will car about a BMW or Mercedes though. I used to have a '79 Sedan DeVille too, with the 425 under the hood. It could light 'em while rolling 20mph, but man was it ugly! Right now my daily driver is an '06 Chrysler 300 Touring. I WENT to the music store to buy all the stuff I have been saving for since the summer....and my debit card was DENIED...why? because I have a child's account and I cant spend more than $100......... I talked with the store guy for like an hour moving boxes and trying out midi pedals and rack tuners and all this expensive shit, and calling on the phone and like 20 guys around me checking the bar codes and shit. AND when I paid, I was deniiiieeed!!!! SOOOO FUCKING EMBARRASSSIINNGGG! the guys at the store were soo fucking pissed off you dont even know, and when I walked away with nothing on my hands felt even worse....fuck. Anyways, the good thing, they kept all the stuff for me so I can come tomorrow and pick it up. I just talked with the bank and they said that now I can spend up to a thousand at stores, and withdraw from the TD machine up to 500. So I guess I will come back tomorrow and not look stupid

Wife #1 kept a whole bunch of my pictures and they eventually ended up in the trash. Here is my 1969 427 L-88 Vette. I hadn't shoed it with the Goodrich TA's. Those got put on about a month after this shot. I'm still in the Air Force (and smoking at the time) and that's my dad and one of my younger brothers, Carl. I ended up redoing the whole interior with exact replacement leather. Medium saddle tan. It had a massive sound system that I custom installed, including external jacks mounted in the fiberglass near the rear bumpers. This supplied 200 watts per channel and was used to plug in big PA speakers for the wild river parties. I had this ride from late 1977 until 1985. (Sold it, because I was getting married to wife #1.) For all you younger guys, all of GM's muscle cars were on the same frame. They shared the same glass as well...doors, windshield and backglass. What a lot of people didn't know, was you could put a Corvette 427 right into a GTO or 442. The Chevelle, GTO, Cutlass 442 and Buick GS and GSX all had the same frame and the sheet metal was pretty close to. It was easy as pie putting different motors into these GM beauties. These pic's were taken by my old bass player's girlfriend who also did some promo shots for us. Good thing I have a high dollar scanner. I had to take these in photo form and convert to digital. Yeah, some of them Buick's were real butt kickers.
