Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

Thats so true. Music is also alot harder to make lots of money in because of things like limewire. I wish there were still bands that did riffs but most I hear today are just random chords being strummed really fast the whole song and if its metal then its in a drop tuning with crap loads of distortion. I try to be open minded and like all music, but I just dont like new rock/metal I am not going to lie and say I do.

Maybe these could knock me out and leave me in a coma forgetting the past like Borne Identity. Then I can start writing original riffs again.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

How would you react if you had just sat down to eat someplace and this woman came walking in and took a seat next to your table? Boy, I'll bet that would be one quiet supper, especially if you had some chicks with you. She ain't got much of a face, but then I'll bet most people don't look at her face. She's not as big as the one's I posted that got removed. I mean those girls qualified for disability. "Help, I'm stuck behind the steering wheel...again." "Watch me...I can fall forward and bounce right back up." Yeah, Joe called them "hippety hops" or something like that. I mean when a woman has boobs that weigh more than 90 pounds each, it must be hell trying to sleep at night. They probably have one of those electric beds that lift them up. That, or a 20 ton crane. I mean if I did stand up comedy and a chick like that walked in, I'd have a whole nights worth of material. "Hey, if you walk backwards does your butt make that 'Beep...beep...beep' sound? "Look, Goodyear has brought two of their blimps to the show." "I bet your real careful eating hot soup." Oh I could go on and on. "Got MILK?"

Big ole BOOBS, not NooBs!

Being in a band and making it in 1964 compared to 2009.

In 1964, you were "discovered" and sent to the recording company's studio to record their music, their way. The big DJ's were "paid" to play your songs and you became an overnight sensation (sorry Frank Zappa). There were about seven categories of music in 1964. Everything was defined and in its place.

In 2009, you put your shit on MySpace, YouTube and 20 other web hosting sites. You have a digital recording studio and you make your countless demos there. Your music is hard to define, because there are 532 categories at this moment. There are no clear definitions between your music and Conway Twitty. You never get "discovered," but you still send out demo's. At age 35, you finally realize that you are not going to reshape the sound of music (sorry Julie Andrews). You decide to take a cooking job at a Chinese restaurant. You marry the owner's daughter and have two kids and a Subaru.

The point is, in the late 50's and the 60's there was less competition. Also, a lot of music was fresh (think Chuck Berry's riffs). Over the years, I have caught myself saying, "I think I've heard that riff a hundred times before." Musician's have copied and recopied all of the known riffs of the universe. I am looking forward for something new and fresh. It would be great to hear a new release and say, "All the riffs are new. I haven't ever heard them before." (That will be the day. Sorry Buddy Holly.)

I'm too old to be a sound shaper. My aggressive days of playing are over. I used to have a studio. I used to think that I could make an impact. It's a great feeling, until the years roll by and you realize you need to find a Chinese restaurant to work at.
I see exactly what you mean Marty, and I wasn't even around in the early days.

Sometimes I feel it's just useless doing what I do. In my area at least... Well, in Australia in general.

I live in an area where the only music scene is metalcore and deathcore, with all that new bullshit, to make matters worse, I basically live in the ghetto of Australia... Only a lot crappier, this place is turning to shit, I've got nobody to metal out with, no chances of starting a band I'll really be happy in, and even then if I start a band, it wont be a bad, it'll be a little hobby, because nobody can make it in music around here.

It's not just the music scene fucking with everything, it's pop culture fucking with the music scene.

Please, somebody take me back to 1975 so I can be around for good music D=

Edit: Put simply - The 21st century SUCKS ARSE.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

I have tried to start an original band, and it got started, but we never found the right people. Me and the drummer were the only ones into it. So then we said "fuck it" lets start a maiden tribute band cuz thats we really love.

I dont wanna start an original band, cuz then its starting from zero again, and you have to act the clown again, and you basically have to reinvent the wheel, and im not up to that.

Yeah
I wanna start an original band cause it'd be awesome, but it's so hard these days to be original and to the point. Back in the 80's you could just pick up a guitar and screw around, and you'd have a good riff. Now if you do that, you're playing somebody elses song.

Cover/tribute bands are fun enough though I guess.

You know what guys, this thread has really turned from a thread about new punks and tits to a true backstage xD

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

I hear you guys. The only musicians around here play alternative, screamo, and hardcore death metal. I want an original band. I love to write my own riffs and i have alot of them. I try to make them sound as original as possible. I really want to go to LA when i graduate high school and see if I can do anything up there. I have a cousin that is a singer and she might be able to get someone to hook me up, if she thought I was good enough. She has also met Aerosmith's manager which is pretty cool I guess.

Maybe we could merge our plans together

I'm gonna start doing sound engineering courses so I can get a job in a studio, my plan was to then move to L.A and try and get in for the new wave of thrash, and find some real thrashers. Then, to slip my band in after hours at the studio and get stuff recorded. Then annoy the shit out of the record labels and offer them music without them having to pay for the recording/mastering (That's a huge slab of money they don't have to shell out, so maybe they'll be a little more inclined to try and get the CD's out there)

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

That would be really cool. It really might help you get a better chance of doing what you want to do. I would like to have myself a straight up Rock n' Roll band. Glam would be fun and I would love to do that too. But really, I would just love an old style rock band with riffs and high pitched vocals. Maybe something like a mixture within the two.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

I agree. It's difficult to "make it" in music today. By make it, I mean get a gig playing sold out arenas and the like. If that's what you want, then go apply for Hannah Montana's guitar player. LOL A lot of Rock n Rollers, imo as I am guilty of the same, stick with the tried and true Rock of the 70's and early 80's. It's great music. That's why everyone from those eras have "reformed" and toured. Only a few of those bands actually endured from then to now. If you want to get out and play, you should try and play wherever you can. Our local club, which showcased a lot of local artists, closed down last weekend. That's going to put a crunch on the local scene here, big time. I don't know of any artists who didn't have a story to tell about how difficult it is to get record companies to recognize their potential. Many bands go on playing for years and more years without that recognition. Don't let that be a deterrent, play for the energy you get from jamming the last track you wrote, that you love. To record companies, you are just a cut out of their bottom line, unless you have a huge following in which case you are an addition to their bottom line. THAT'S IT! Nothing more.

Now we need a little bass to soothe this thread over.

I thank you for the hot bass player pics. My favorite chick bass player is really hot, but she doesn't have any sexy hot pictures. She's not bad. She's 23 and is Jeff Beck's main bass player. How's that for a gig?

Oh...did I say she was an Aussie? Yep. She made it out and got famous. She has her own website and CD out. She's a huge favorite of the Jazz crowd.

I give you Jeff Beck and Tal Wilkenfeld:

What was that? The tiny little thud of a testicle hitting the floor?

Yeah, a testicle hitting the floor does make a thud sound. Only problem is you're screaming in pain so loud, you don't hear it.

She's better than good. She's playing with Jeff Beck on his world tour.

On her website they have her looking really good. I would let her be the mother of my children...as I have none.
