Feel free... it's a shame that music has turned into whining about life instead of coming up with good Melodies.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

Hey, the censors only took down one of the guitar chicks. Hooray! That leaves 14 out of the 15. It's a lot of work getting all of the pictures located, transferred to Photo Bucket and then transferred to this thread. I'm just glad they didn't take down more, cuz some of them girls ain't wearing nuthin' but a guitar.

Yeah, I think her sense of taste is a wee bit off as well. I mean hard plastic versus a hard on?

Man this thread is great. I've already forgotten about three quarters of the shit that is on this thing. Maybe that's because the censors have taking three quarters of the shit off.

Anyway, I think it is time for more videos...don't you???

Hey, I have been running through all of the threads everyday and I discovered something sort of funny, yet to the point. Since running this thread, I have seen a huge reduction in the use of "NooB" in any thread. In fact, there are no NooB threads as of this moment. It actually worked!

Boobs, not NooBs!

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

Hello...Hi...Ahh, how are you? Ahh, I'm a wee bit of a NooB and I have a question about the high voltage on my DSL100? If I put my wet tongue on pin 3 of the power tube socket will it shock me? I was planning on doing this prior to setting the bias for the very first time. I want to make sure there is power there. I'm sorry that I'm such a noob, but I have to learn sometime. Now if I pull the chassis out and have the amp plugged in, can I take my fingers and poke around without any chance of getting shocked? I mean is it true that the power filters can really zap you, or is that just a bunch of BS? Anyway I am getting ready to work on my amp, but I think I will wash it off first in the bathtub, because it is sort of dusty. Good thing I have an extra long power cord. Hey, I could climb in and take a bath while I'm at it. Might as well conserve water. See ya.

I could not agree more about alot of new music. I am actually in high school now so I hear all about new artists and their music and when I have to hear and listen about it all of the time, it depresses me. Rock and Roll is dead it has been for a long time. There is no new "Rock and Roll" music today, it all just sounds like grunge influenced pop. There are no "Stars" like evh that just blew people away. No new creative riffs and dont even get me started on alot of the guitar solos. Old artist stuff is good though. New metal just all sounds the same to me. Way too much distortion and not enough mids, the tones just arent unique.

Sorry for the rant and bashing on new music as I hate to put out crap on others music but I can only take so much sometimes. I just want Rock and Roll to be what it is suppose to be: Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, AC/DC, Foreigner, GnR, Nightranger, Alice Cooper, KISS, Hanoi Rocks, Journey

I want metal to be what is is too (all kinds of metal as there is alot of good types hair, thrash, etc)Metal is: Megadeth, Ratt, Def Leppard, Quiet Riot, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, Krokus, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Pantera, TigerTailz, Winger, WhiteSnake, Warrant, Racer X, Poison...etc. (I actually consider some of the stuff like Poison, Whitesnake, and Jovi along with other bands listed above as hard rock and not metal but since most dont think so I just put them under general metal)

Anyway...I am done now forgive me if I offended or anybody and thank me if I made a point .

Anyway...thanks for letting me rant lol
There have been some really good artists but they aren't getting the exposure like a lot of the 90's bands were getting. Out of your whole list, 80s Rocker, I consider all of them to play Rock and Roll with the exception of Pantera. Metal for me is Carcass, Morbid Angel, Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Exodus and so on. I see you have Nikki Sixx in your avatar. I grew up on the Crue. I mean, I loved Motley Crue like there was no other band on the planet. I saw them for the first time in 1985 on Theatre of Pain. Awesome show! I still listen to them. Back then, I considered them metal but when I found some of those other bands I just listed, I realized they were really Rock and Roll with an edge. That's NOT a bad thing in the least

In this thread a couple of pages back I posted a picture of the singer in Guano Apes. She has a great voice and the players are very diverse with some great funky bass, rock and metal guitar with a backbone of hard hitting drums. Excellent for most occasions. Arch Enemy is extreme metal but very palatable to the technical ears. It's very difficult to understand her voice but the guitars and drums are very discernable and very fast! Steve Vai keeps making the most amazing music ever, year after year and never gets old. There are more new artists that are breaking ground but the corporate financing is not there because you can play well. It's more for if you look good while playing at least mediocre. I hate to say that but it's true.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

...and you have shows like "American Idol" to thank for the way the youth of America views music. All manufactured, boxed up and put on a shelf and you had better buy it kid if you want to be "in."

The other thing that I want to say is that because I'm older, I have gotten to live the whole rock evolution thing. I mean there were bands that I thought were hard core rock and to listen to them now, it's almost elevator music. I mean hard rocking music pales to the stuff that came out in the 90's. The hardcore scene almost went underground. The bands didn't get the publicity, but nonetheless their music was very hard metal. I just got a little tired of the vocal manipulation (synth) that some bands seem to consider as part of their style. I can only take so much of that.

The whole point I'm making is that when we first start digging music and we listen to rock, your first 25 bands will make you feel like you are into the heavy shit. However, as you get older and the music scene changes, Motley Crue just isn't as hard as they seemed to be 10 years ago.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

Well, American Idol shouldn't necessarily be to blame. Mainstream music has always been there and for the most part has always sounded like pop. There is some great underground rock bands but I'll tell you what, that is the only thing rocking at the moment. Most "rock or metal bands" all sound like they have freaking pop choruses. I think music which we call now "pop" will hopefully fade out and a new genre will be created. Every generation or so had new elements brought to the mix. The newest one I can think of was the whole Nu-Metal thing in the early 2000's. I think this generations Nu-Metal is the whole Metalcore scene. I'm a fan of Between The Buried And Me and they are a great example of what futuristic rock should sound like. I think their prime is over but I think great musicians will expand on that style and we will have a new birth. If music sucks than only us the musicians are to blame. It is easy to get your music out their, but you have to work for it these days. The whole rock star fantasy is over unless you are a talented singer that goes on A.I. Which I would mention there is a difference between singing and creating music, so don't hate the player hate the game.

Re: ***NOOBS not BOOBS***

I will try to keep this short.

Being in a band and making it in 1964 compared to 2009.

In 1964, you were "discovered" and sent to the recording company's studio to record their music, their way. The big DJ's were "paid" to play your songs and you became an overnight sensation (sorry Frank Zappa). There were about seven categories of music in 1964. Everything was defined and in its place.

In 2009, you put your shit on MySpace, YouTube and 20 other web hosting sites. You have a digital recording studio and you make your countless demos there. Your music is hard to define, because there are 532 categories at this moment. There are no clear definitions between your music and Conway Twitty. You never get "discovered," but you still send out demo's. At age 35, you finally realize that you are not going to reshape the sound of music (sorry Julie Andrews). You decide to take a cooking job at a Chinese restaurant. You marry the owner's daughter and have two kids and a Subaru.

The point is, in the late 50's and the 60's there was less competition. Also, a lot of music was fresh (think Chuck Berry's riffs). Over the years, I have caught myself saying, "I think I've heard that riff a hundred times before." Musician's have copied and recopied all of the known riffs of the universe. I am looking forward for something new and fresh. It would be great to hear a new release and say, "All the riffs are new. I haven't ever heard them before." (That will be the day. Sorry Buddy Holly.)

I'm too old to be a sound shaper. My aggressive days of playing are over. I used to have a studio. I used to think that I could make an impact. It's a great feeling, until the years roll by and you realize you need to find a Chinese restaurant to work at.
