Re: KFC or Popeyes??

First off, both are bottom of the barrel dysentary traps. That said, I remember Kemtucky Fried Chicken franchises (pre-Pepsico "KFCs"). The chicken and the biscuits were flat out amazing. Pepsico utterly destroyed the Colonel's legacy. Any place that makes the "doubledown" and the bacon/potatoes/cheese/chicken/corn "vomit bowl" has no understanding of what food is. It's nothing more than slop for bipedal livestock.

Popeyes is far better, albeit barely acceptable. Original Kentucky Fried Chicken blows Original Popeye's away, but that's all mammoth/sabertooth tiger talk now.

Luckily we have a Grocery Store around the corner that makes KILLER fried chicken. Of the two choices KFC.

So some positivity to counter all this nay-saying of mine...

Chic Fil A. It is as it was from the 80s, and it has always been good. The crazy thung is comparing early 80s Kentucky Fried to Chic Fil A, then comparing later 80s-on "KFC" to Chic fil a. It really shows how much KFC has changed over the years.

Actually over the past month or two Chic fil a has been changing things. The batter on the nuggets are definitely different, and it seems that the tenders are changing too. They taste different. Not nearly as good as they used to be.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

There's nothing wrong with "fast food" fried chicken, even KFC. Unless you're the love child of Thomas Keller and Martha Stewart it's more likely to be far superior to the results one can achieve at home. Those commercial-grade pressure fryers available in professional kitchens just can't be replicated with nanny's much beloved cast iron skillet. Let's face it, deep frying is a pain in the ass. There's the mess, the grease splatter, the chance of burning your house down... Not to mention the sheer pain in the ass of having to dispose of all that oil. I'll take KFC any day over doing that shit in my kitchen. No I take that back, I'll take Bojangles... and a biscuit.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

if you make it at home, it doesnt give you a stomach ache afterward

oh, and it happens to taste 100X better. dump the oil in an empty coffee can, throw it in the trash barrel on collection day...no problem.

My coffee comes in bags. If I have oil to dispose of I'll usually pour it into a double bagged grocery bag, tie it up then toss in the trash.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

honestly i can make some pretty bangin' fried chicken. my baked chicken even tastes better than the modern fast food stuff (the salt and grease alone really hurt the new market imo) but i still like KFC better. if i'm eating fast food fried chicken it's probably KFC but yes my home made chicken (i built a chicken from SCRATCH!!!) is better imo.

i don't do a lot of frying though but i'm getting ready to make some home fries in a bit. i have a pretty nice recipe for that. i use red potatoes or gold. i like the skin and texture better.

(hey what'd you expect you're talking to a fat guy about food, now i'm on a roll.....cinnimon roll.....)

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

seriously, i dont know if its me or the food these days, but every time i eat at mcdonalds, kfc, taco bell, any of that stuff, i feel like shit afterward.

pains in my stomach and all that. it goes away after about 20 minutes, but man, its hardly worth trying anymore. though i still do in a pinch, and regret it every time...

its never a very satisfying meal.

it has that effect on me as well man. i hate fast food. give me a good home cooked meal any day.

that's why i have an organic veggetable garden as well (and yes the seeds are organic, no gmo/monsanto shit in my garden) so i at LEAST eat something with actual nutrtional value....all our food is roided up and bulked up, watered down now. we have to eat so much more of the store bought garbage to get the nutrients....between the chemicals roids and lack of micronutrients in our mass produce it's no suprise we're all fat, sick and dead.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

I've been hitting Popeyes over KFC lately but I also live in the home of Chic-fil-a so that is probably my preference. Publix also has good fried chicken but my momma made the best and yes, in a cast iron skillet well seasoned with home cooking.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

Speaking of Publix... what has happened to the price of their STEAKS lately? Jesus Christ a single Ribeye steak there is now nearly $16-$18 a pop. I love Publix but I think I'll be buying my beef from Costco from now on.

Re: KFC or Popeyes??

Get Todd Wilbur 's kfc clone recipe and a cheap pressure cooker and youll have better chicken,,, no belly ache and no pissed off buyers remorse for spending 20 bucks for 4 dollars worth of chicken

Not hard at all either. And when youre sittin there eating it you will be thankin me!
Its easy and fun to do and if you do this 4 times in one month you would save enough money to buy a new pedal or a tv dvr!
oh yeah,,, your girl will be super impressed and then you got some extra nookie too lol!
