Can I ask a stupid question?

I know this is a rehtorical question, and it's a waste of time for a thread.
But....why is it that everybody and their dog that owns a Marshall AFD 100 that posts a video on youtube HAS to play a song by G&R or Slash. Really?

When a person has lost their own identity and sense of self worth as a teenager , there is Slash as your saviour. You take his identity and pretend to yourself that you are worth something again.
Since Slash, teenage depression has decreased tenfold.

Re: Can I ask a stupid question?

They are trying to show how much the amp doesn't sound like slash apparently.

Re: Can I ask a stupid question?

I played "It's Not The Way You Rock" by Dirty Looks.

Because I don't really know too many GnR or sl00sh songs.

Re: Can I ask a stupid question?

I don't know how to play one slash song. I do think for just buying an amp head and plugging straight into... the amp rocks. I a/b'd that head against a Mesa MKV.. While I thought the Mesa sounded just fine, and is a very usable amp. The AFD was warm and smooth, easy to play on with just the right tones. I'm saying this cause I like the amp. Could care less about Slush.

In fact I think the kick ass thing to do, would be to give Alex Lifeson a couple of AFD heads, and let them do a remake of 2112. I don't know why ,.. Alex guitar sounds were titts on that album.

I also think I'd like to hear Allen Holsdworth cranked full bore through one of the AFD heads. Full on concert though with the full band.

Wow......Dirty Looks......You must be from my general area as I don't hear too many other people mention them anymore...........A very straight-forward underestimated rock band (IMHO).........Good to hear them mentioned every now and then.....

I want to see that video.. teaching a dog to play slash on an AFD marshall.. That's better than watching Slush play something.

Re: Can I ask a stupid question?

Usually when people search a signature amp it's more likely to here a song from that artist.

Nah, I'm in southeastern NC.

I like to look for obscure good bands and do their covers from time to time.

We also do "Put A Spell On You" They get the crowd going for sure.

Cool From The Wire is one of the best albums ever.
