Been away for 2 days - saw Tom Petty
Well - I had an awesome 48 hours...
Saw Tom Petty in London at the Royal Albert Hall. What an outstanding venue! Seeing Tom Petty for me was like seeing a saint or some sort of music legend [which he is I know!]. Anyway he's the real deal to me. It's one of the most amazing gigs I've been to. I just love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Luckily he played all their best songs - he literally has about 40 songs I love though. So that's that! - just wanted to tell you guys. Has anyone here seen him? The sound was amazing - their musicianship is really good too and his vocals were as good as usual.

Re: Been away for 2 days - saw Tom Petty
I know he is an Icon of American rock and roll, but in Australia he is not seen as a legend by the sweaty masses.
I saw that doco about him "running down a dream"....What an awesome guy. Beneath that cool laid back southern guy lurks a hardarse. The way he took on the record company was great. Fantastic Doco. The absolute real deal no doubt.... Up there with Lemmy, Rush etc in terms of real dealness. |

I saw them back in the 90's at the Hollywood Bowl, didn't really think much of them till I saw them live (only went cause my GF had tickets)....then it all made sense..GREAT band, they were really good, a pleasant surprise!

Saw them in 2007 at Newcastle Arena. I needed to lie down afterwards.
