I used a POD in front of my amp for a while. Make sure you have all of your patches at equal volumes. Set your clean channel first. Then set your crunch (rythmn) patch to be about the same as your clean. Set your solo patches a little higher 'cause you want to stand out above the rest of your band.
Now, I dont know about the GT-8 but my POD had a master out volume. Experiment with that. Actually, read the manual and see what they recommend.
