Thanks for the kind words John. Early on I knew there'd be misinformation and I'm one that doesn't like to be misled (who does?) so I made it my sole mission to learn all that I can and see to it that I know more than the salesmen who pose as "experts" to get a sale. And this was the end result.
After awhile once you've learned a fair amount, things just come to you automatically and become common sense to you. It's my goal to educate others in a way that makes it become common sense to them as well.
I've always liked the ones who take the "OK this is how it is...blah blah blah"...straight up to the point with the "I really don't give a shit if I bruise your ego or not, this is fact and this is the real deal and you can dispute it all you want but fact is fact and there's no changing that fact" approach, not the ones who use the "raise the string of doubt" approach. That's how you spot a snake oil salesmen...every one of them uses that tactic. The second they start saying things like "OH...you haven't heard the latest have you? Well, blah blah blah" or try to play up the fact that "We've discovered a new phenomenon that no one else has yet and we even have a patent on it blah blah blah" you know they're nothing but a snake oil salesmen. The ones of us who just come on and say "OK here's the deal..." and don't care who we offend in the process because it goes against everything they were led to believe and they don't want to feel like they've been misled by the previous guy who filled their head full of bullshit so they'd rather flame the one who's actually giving them the real 411...those are the guys to listen to. I feel that it's much more beneficial to both me and my customer to be as straight up as possible regardless if the customer wants to get offended over my semantics because he can research the info I give him anywhere and see that I'm not bullshitting him and once that customer knows "Hey he might be a bit harsh, brash, blunt, whatever, but he's obviously not trying to get a quick sale if he's taking that approach and he really seems to know his shit compared to some other salesmen I've dealt with." It does hit people wrong at first, but in the end they realize that I won't mislead them or fill their head with a bunch of bullshit marketing hype.
