i have the hot plate and imo if there is any tone loss at the 16 ohm level it is minimal...no more than inserting a pedal in front of the amp, i use it on the 12 and 8 most of the time but if its late the 16db setting works fine imo. the biggest thing about the 16db setting is that your not gettin the speakers to move the air which does contribute to the sound...
