Re: WTB: Marshall JMP-1 Preamp

Howdy eddyrox,
Have you tried the Ebay nightmare yet. That's how I picked up mine. About $500.00 with shipping. I then sent it to VooDoo to have them do the mod. Another $350 with shipping. Once it returned I wasnt so happy with her, but after some phone calls and emails to VooDoo she is incredible. The JMP-1 is still kind of a two trick pony. I have her set up to be like a 4 channel head. Clean, crunch and two solos. I got to tell ya, she rips heads. The mod warmed her up and took alot of the buzz out of it. Its still really noisey but Voodoo showed me how to get around that. My tone is pure Marshall. I run her through an EL34 100/100. (TC Elec. G-major/Dbx 266Xl comp/BBE 422A in series before the amp)

I like it so much that I took the chorus off of my rythmn patch. Straight up Marshall spank, no color, no modulation. Just good old Marshall bark. Pick attack is sharp and defined. She feeds back really smooth. She likes my Les Pauls better than the Ibanez's. The RG's are bright and twangy (typical strat type guitar tone)

So good luck on your quest. The JMP-1 is a great pre-amp. She's finicky, but once she's dialed in...
