Re: Marshall Haze 40 or Fender Blues deluxe reissue??

I purchased a Marshall Haze 40 combo back in Sept. '09 after straying for a while from Marshall's and I'm really happy with the Haze. I owned a 50W Marshall combo in the 70's, had their 50W MOSFET half stack in the 80's, more recently had the DSL 401, then the TSL 602 combo, and I've loved each amp. Then I took a detour, and went to a Crate Palomino 30W class A combo. The clean tones were great but I couldn't handle the gain channel, too buzzy for my ears. In July '09 I bought a Rivera Clubster 25 Doce, which had beatiful clean tones, but again I wasn't happy with the gain tones. That's when I went to GC and listened to the Haze. I guess I'm just a sucker for Marshall tones, but I was impressed with the Haze and brought it home. I am falling in love with this amp! It's not perfect, channel switching is a little noisy, the gain does not saturate as fully as I like for newer metal tones, but it is still "Marshall" distortion and I love it's sound compared to my recent excursions into other amplifier territories. I even like the effects, although I concur they are limited. It's nice that I don't have to bring out my whole pedal board, I can travel light when the situation calls for it. The amp gets better sounding the more I crank it and it really has all the power I need. It sings at half volume, and the gain reaches all the classic rock heights that I look for. The clean channel tones are nice and clear. I put it next to my Rivera, and the Rivera has a Fender quality that is beatiful, but the Haze wasn't far behind. There was no comparison with the gain channel; to me the Marshall blew away the Rivera. Again, I'm keeping in mind that the cost of the Haze is $700, the Rivera was $1,000. So, all of this is to say that I'm extremely happy with the Haze, happy to be back home with a Marshall.
