There aren't many definitive "donts" in regards to current production tubes. I would recommend reading the descriptions at Tube Depot or the Tube Store. Svetlana EL=34's are arguably the most popular due to their strong upper mids. But I have had good luck installing JJ's as well.
Remember to properly bias your amp (or have a tech do so) if you change out the power tubes.  |

and something with a strong mid sounds perfect since my mids are generally around 8. I'll check out tube depot and see what looks good. Any ideas for preamp tubes? thanks for the help!
on a side note, it looks liek theres 2 power amp tubes and 3 preamp tubes.
