I saw a JTM45 Ceriatone go for $450 on Ebay about 10 days ago. I would expect Nik's work (Nik assembled it - not the seller according to auction) and component choices to be at least on par with the reissue.

Adding a PPIMV takes less than 20-30 minutes (unless you don't have a hole to use or are going to relocate the front panel presence control to the rear) and is 100% reversible. I've never done it on a PCB based amp, but on a turret board it's really simple even for a hack like me. If you're considering one, use the Lar-Mar spec PPIMV available on Valvestorm.com (same kit George used to offer at MetroAmp).

It's like the best < $20 attenuator you'll ever buy. Actually I would recommend using both if it's in the budget, but if I had to pick one - the Lar-Mar is a no-brainer.
