Solid state power amps are FRFR powered speakers are starting to become bigger now. The Matrix GT800FX and Rocktron Velocity 300's are starting to get up there with the Fryette/VHT and Boogie power amps.
But yeah, like you said, digital is starting to become something more then just Line 6 Spider amps. Its getting to a point where people can't even differentiate (sp?
) a tube amp from a processor like the Axe.
And the original Axe-FX's were really high quality, too, and they can be found for the
fairly cheap price of $1200 if you're patient.
