I decided to try my hand at a custom assembly. The body and neck came off the showcase, and then I selected hardware. The body is alder with a wild maple top finished with a cherry burst. The neck is quartersawn maple with an ebony fingerboard and jumbo gold frets. The pups are Seymour Cool Rails, Vintage Rails, and Hot Rails, neck to bridge. I used RS guitarworks pots and caps, and a Planet Waves output jack. The tuners are Schaller locking minis, and of course it has an OFR. I had to search e-bay to find the hex-key mount for the back of the headstock.
The tone and playability rival my Jackson USA SL2H, except that I can get more different tones out of this axe.
I hope you like it as much as I do!
