Happy to help. You don't HAVE to use the stereo input if you do not want to. You can safely run the head with the one cable, but I would stay with the 16 ohms. I don't think solid state heads suffer from the same issues as tube heads, so an 8 ohm output to a 16 ohm input is fine. I recommend the ISP decimator over the Boss. The ISP does not color your tone at all. I have not heard the same thing about the Boss. But then again, since you are running SS, either will probably be fine.
