Re: Marshall DSL100MLB and MC412 Half Stack

All great info above, and let me cast my vote for the DSL100MLB w/MC412 package deal since I bought one a little while ago. Take a look at the "Dsl100mlb?" thread in this forum for more info and pics. You can get this half stack new at around $1100-ish (from the original $1299) if you can use a 15% off discount. This cab sounds great and looks great, and yes it is made of MDF instead of birch plywood like the 1960 cab. I think the 1960 would hold up better if you played a lot of gigs and the cab was getting banged around. Don't get me wrong though- the MC412 is a well-designed, solidly built cab with all of the other appointments of the 1960 (casters are optional though).

The 1960A would probably be the least expensive cab to find used (or new of course around $800) but many people do not like the sound of the Celestion 75W G12T speakers in that cab. The 1960AV has the Vintage 30 Celestions that many prefer. Celestion rates those speakers at 60W each but Marshall rates the cab at 280W (?). The 1960AX has Celestion Greenback speakers for a raw, classic sound. They are rated at 25W each for a total of 100W in the 4x12 cab. You'd have to be little careful at higher volume levels when using a DSL100 head with that cab.
