Sure the music comes first, but this is rock-n-roll... not Mozart at the Met, it's supposed to be fun, and not that serious. There's nothing wrong with a little tounge-in-check over the top visuality once in awhile.
Do some go too far with schtick to cover lack of talent....well yeah sometimes, but not everyone is born a musical genius. Id rather see a band thats not so great but puts on a SHOW, and has fun doing it,
than some moody brooding perfectionists going nowhere.
You gotta keep it fun, otherwise it becomes too much like work....and if we wanted to work we'd all get real jobs right?
