What does it have to do with music? And as far as visual stage props, who cares. The stage look of a band is important. Music and showbusiness are not mutually exclusive unless you only play in your bedroom.
You spend thousands of hours working on the music, sure, but if you're asking for money from people to see you and your band, it would be nice to go the extra mile and have a stage performance too. The backdrop is part of that, at least if a wall of Marshalls contributes to your look.
I'm a huge Judas Priest fan because of their music, but their stage show and huge sets make them that much more enjoyable to see live! Is that "selling out" NFW! They rock!
I'm not too cool to say I don't have to put on a show because my band is so good we don't have to. Until we sell more albums than the Beatles I'm going to give a maximum effort to be entertaining. A wall of fake Marshalls is better than no wall at all!
