Just plain old ignorance on my part, American Viking. Are you not supposed to use one on this type of amp?

I was on the Classic Gain Channel with the volume (I think) at 3 and the gain probably the same. It's a 16 ohms attenuator, plugged into the 16 ohm jack on the amp. Obviously I'm pretty new at all this, I'm sure I did something wrong. Thanks for your help.
