Re: Dedicated overdrive/clean boost your Marshall thread.

Ok. Moving on to the HT Dual pedal by Blackstar.
1. 2 channel pedal with a crunch button on the green channel offering 3 voicings altogether.
2. 12Ax7 in the circuit
3. Can use as a clean boost via the green channel.
4. Crunch is excellent.
5. Silent switching. Buffered by-pass.
6. ISF control adjusts from a Marshall like gain to an American voiced gain.

I like using the crunch voicing on the pedal to push the crunch channel on the DSL with it. Nice blues/rock/hard rock tones. Using the clean on the pedal with gain and volume maxed boosting the amp's crunch channel renders some nice bluesy rock tones.

Its got a very articulate gain to it which really sounds good when soloing. You can roll 12AX7's in it if you are in to that. Mullard RI sounds good in it. So did some of my NOS tubes. It comes with a Sovtec WA. Shit tubes. Really durable but sonically sterile compared to others.

There are a couple of things I don't like about the pedal. Channel 2, the red channel, is woofy as hell and on milder settings dull compared to the crunch green channel which really is terrific. The crunch just shows the red channel up in many ways. The other thing is it is expensive at $200 especially when for me I don't even use the red channel on it due to how it sounds with the DSL. Its also a BIG pedal.
