This is a great point I've also mentioned in other threads: the perfect "room" sound for you and your amp by yourself is frequently awful when you play with your band. I always use a little presence with bandmates but have it on zero at home, along with other tweaks. For example, I also have more gain/distortion at home. As I play a lot louder at practice with the band, I need less gain, and I like the slightly cleaner sound in the mix.

Trying out amps at stores is fine, but I also like opinions of people when they use their amps in a group!
