I play Strat using a DSL 50 head going through a Mesa cab. I like the "boom" I get from the clean channel (the dirty channel is too thin/fizzy for the way I play).
I boost the clean channel using an MI Audio Tube Zone (Australian made). I set the peddle at unity with the amp volume and then nudge the gain. It's a powerful pedal but nicely transparent.
The other way I boost the amp is using a Boss GE7. I use a slight "downward frown" to get the mids up a bit.
Both ways work great.
