Well, for starters, the overdrive that I use is just a standard Ibanez TS-9 with the drive at about 9'o clock the level about 3 and the tone around 11, this way it serves as a boost but gives a little more clarity to my tone...and I use it on the clean channel to drive some blues riffs.. but if I'm on my clean channel and playing my strats i need some boost for the volume...and i use the mxr MC-401 clean boost..its completely transparent so it does not effect your tone at all..you can put it in front of the amp and drive the preamps with it or like me put it through the loop and get nothing but boost..thats my boost/overdrive 2 cents..haha and you can get both of those pedals for about 100 bucks a piece from any online store.
