Alright guys. I'm starting this thread so those that do boost their Marshall's have a place to discuss it specifically. We have arrived at the point here where we have decided to do it. Lets enjoy talking about it.
Lets talk about what overdrive/clean boost/treble booster pedals we like on what channel of our Marshall's and make recommendations based on having actually played the pedal with our amps. I like to include prices of the pedals so those who are interested will know how much a pedal may cost them. Lets not add distortion, wah or time based pedals here. There are other threads for that.
I've got a few of my own to talk about but I'm only doing one at a time. I want to hear about yours.
I'm going to start with one of my pedals which happens to be a treble booster. Its called the HomeBrew Germania. It cost me about a $108 from an online store if I remember right. Its not the OC44 model. So far I have been using it on Lead 1 & 2 on my DSL. I have the pedal set on Lo Fi with the pedal gain set at 3 o'clock. The 3D toggle is to the left. I put the amps gain any where from 3 to 7 on the knob. Eq amp to taste. Volume wherever.
It makes the Marshall's red channel rip. It does color the saturation with mids but in a very good way. It makes it much more aggressive and is a great pedal to add punch and a cutting saturation that to my ears, is not harsh. It cleans up well with guitar volume. You have to be careful with how you set the pedal cause it can overwhelm on its other settings. I always start out with a little boost and then go from there. I use my HH GT Tele with it.
I love how it raunches up my aggressive blues playing. I'm glad I bought it. This is my Raunch & Roll pedal so it only covers a specific niche in my playing.
I found the link on it so you can see what it looks like:
